“But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.” Proverbs 4:18.
God created every living creature with the potential to grow physically; If it has life, it has the potential to grow.
He created man exceptionally differently than all the rest of the living creatures in the universe. Genesis 1: 27 says, “God created man in his own image and likeness.”
Think about the potential that resides in our lives to grow physically, intellectually, emotionally, and most importantly, spiritually and skillfully.
God created you to grow and develop into your potential. God’s design is for you to become all He has called you to be. Consequently, you have to ask yourself:
Am I growing and developing into my potential?
Am I living up to the calling I have received?
I am convinced that we are all called to be leaders somehow, someway. Whether we are leading our family, our community, an organization, or simply leading ourselves…we are called to be leaders. Jesus was a leader, and we are to be like Him in all we do.
So what are you doing to develop yourself as a leader?
What are you doing to challenge yourself to lead at the highest level possible?
On a personal level, my leadership growth plan, which developed many years ago, is a guiding path towards reaching my God-given potential:
1. I purposely develop my relationship and knowledge of God through his word, prayer, and fasting. Jesus is the greatest leader of all time; if you get to know him, you are on your way to becoming a great leader.
2. I read at least one new book a month from a Christian author that inspires me to become better at what I do. I also read many inspirational books from athletes, successful people, and leaders.
3. I surround myself with mentors. My Pastor, Anthony Mangun, is a powerful voice in my life. I also have a handful of friends and advisors that aid my development. You can’t reach your potential alone; you need others. We were created for community.
4. I also listen to great podcasts that help me develop. Here are two I love:
The Andy Stanley Leadership podcast.
The Craig Groeschel Leadership Podcast.
Whatever you need to do to develop yourself…DO IT! Stop wishing you get better and start working on getting better. Stop thinking you will reach your potential without any effort…and start making an effort!
Get growing; you have too much God has put into you not to stretch yourself!
Have a Blessed Week,
Pastor (Rev. Elias Limones)
