“...But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.” II Corinthians 10:12.
It is sad to see how even believers undervalue themselves due to the lack of understanding of who they are now that they are in Christ Jesus.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” II Corinthians 5:17
Your value now rests upon the fact that you are a new person in Christ Jesus. The negative upbringing, the physical or verbal abuse - even though they are psychologically damaging - are surmountable. God has given you a greater power to overcome any traumatic past and flourish in all aspects of your life, pulling from all the gifts he Has equipped you with.
You have value and abilities far beyond what you’ll ever give yourself credit. Never believe the lie that you have nothing to offer.
1. God uniquely design you
Our strengths and skills are not a needle in a haystack; instead, they are our natural and standard abilities. Most people do not recognize their strengths because they are so natural to them. Consequently, they tend to think those same skills are innate to everyone. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! We must understand that each person is uniquely designed, with specific skills and gifts that ONLY THEY possess.
Your unique blend is not common; it is the way you are distinctively wired.
There are always similarities between our skills and those others possess, but they are never the same.
Don’t belittle your gifts and skills by thinking they are common. Step on the platform that God has given you and use your talents and abilities to make a difference.
Don’t let the limiting belief of sameness keep you from being unique.
2. Don’t try to be someone else
When you are who God created you to be, you don’t need to worry about being someone else.
Don’t play the comparison game! You will always lose when you compare yourself to someone else.
There will always be those that are further along than you.
Instead of thinking less of yourself, challenge yourself to keep pushing ahead.
When you compare yourself to others who are above you, worthlessness can easily set in.
On the flip side, there will always be someone who isn’t as far along as you.
2. The danger of comparing yourself to others
The danger in comparing yourself to others is that you can easily let pride slip into your life.
Either way, social comparison leads to a false sense of reality.
“God will help you be all you can be, but He will never help you be someone else.”
Embrace who God intended you to be and use the unique blend of gifts and talents that He has entrusted to you.
Conclusion:
Your worth is invaluable, and your potential is limitless because our God is limitless, and He created us in His image. Step out from the shadows so that you can step up into greater things as you step on the platform of your God-given gifts and strengths! You have a performance to get to.
Have a blessed week,
Pastor
