"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies." Psalm 23:5
What a powerful verse David penned.
We are in a time of uncertainty, with many things that can go wrong. With so much tension in the air, it can be easy to feel like there's no hope for us. But it doesn't seem so bad when you look at the big picture and how God has always been present for His people.
We have a conniving enemy whose agenda is to keep us from experiencing all the blessings that come from our Savior, but he will never (ultimately) succeed! Jesus loves us too much to leave us without help or hope. He knows what we need before we even ask Him and prepares a table in front of us, every day, with “good” things- even when it feels like everything around is coming against us.
He will be with you in the midst of your greatest challenges:
In the midst of the cancer ward,
In the midst of financial ruin,
In the midst of family problems,
In the midst of emotional hardships,
In the midst of all our enemies.
We must understand that He doesn't make the enemy disappear, but rather invites us to reside at the table in the presence of our challenges.
1. He will provide for us at the table in our time of need
He will never leave us or forsake us in the presence of circumstances. Instead, He will be right there in their midst. Remember that although Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego were thrown into the fiery furnace, there was "another" with them in the midst of the fire. And so it shall be with us too; we will never be alone amid our challenges.
2. Don't run away from your challenges
Stop trying to run away from your challenges and enemies, and instead embrace "the table" in their presence. Find God "in the midst." Find peace "in the midst." Find provision "in the midst." Walk by faith, not by sight, by trusting God to prepare a table. And remember, when God prepares a table for us, it has everything we need.
The table is full of provision, blessings, and strength. God doesn't prepare an empty table; He prepares a full and abundant table.
Focus on being at the table, not the enemy surrounding you!
When challenges come your way, ask yourself, "Am I sitting at the table?"
Have a blessed week,
Pastor (Rev. Elias Limones)
