"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
EVERLASTING FATHER, Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 9:6
Yesterday we enjoyed an extraordinary Christmas Concert. I felt the presence of God throughout the entire presentation strongly.
One of the songs that moved me deeply was "The Prayer." It reminded me that Jesus is my Heavenly Father.
1. When you have children, your kids are a unique reflection of you.
Our children carry our mark in their DNA. In the same way, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we bear the mark of our Heavenly Father Jesus.
When God creates something, He takes great delight in it, just like a parent in their children. If you have children, you know what I am talking about.
No one had to teach you how to love your children. It is a natural response to take the greatest joy in seeing them and being with them.
Jesus is our Father; He is not mad at you; He is madly in love with you. God was not lonely before he formed man from the dust of the ground, yet He chose to create us because of His fatherly heart.
"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! "
I John 3:1
Father is one of the names and attributes of Jesus because it is in His nature to Father. We are His beloved children.
"If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!"
Mathew 7:11
2. Holy Ghost-filled people are the ones that bear (reflect) His image.
One of the greatest joys of parenting is to experience your children loving you back with the same love you have for them. When you feel their affection, it lights up your world. On the other spectrum, it hurts the most when we do not receive love from those we love the deepest. These extreme sentiments surface because reciprocated love (or the lack thereof) is essentially our "own" love being reflected (or deflected) back to us (or away from us). Thus, God experiences the highest degree of love from us when we reciprocate His love toward us.
3. God did not create us to simply "do" His work; He made us "to be" His work.
You cannot do what God wants you to do unless you become who He wants you to be because you will inevitably "do" as "you are." Our great purpose in life is "to be" the nature and character of God. This state consequently leads to true worship.
4. Worship reflects God's love for us, back to Him, through our lives.
Worship radiates from us when we reflect the heart of God. And if we all truly reflected His heart, we would change the world overnight. Worshipers understand that this fundamental purpose in life of mirroring the image of our Father God translates into giving Him maximum worship.
This Christmas, let's not forget to worship Jesus our Lord and Savior because He is the reason for the season.
Merry Christmas!
