"I'm as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. Now therefore give me this mountain…"

Joshua 14:11,12

While visiting the historic town of Teba in the southern part of Spain, I came across a large plaque honoring the bravery and service of James Douglas. Historical records show that James Douglas was at the King of Scotland's deathbed when the latter issued an impressionable dying wish. Bruce, a remarkable warrior king, requested that his heart be carried to the Holy Land amidst the fight against the enemies of Christ. James Douglas took on the request. Robert the Bruce's heart was removed, embalmed, and placed in a small container that Douglas carried around his neck. Douglas fought battle after battle with his king's heart close to his own.

During Douglas' final battle against the Moors, he was surrounded by the enemy. Knowing that he would fight to his death, he removed the heart from his neck, threw it into the midst of the enemy, and shouted, "Onward brave heart, as thou wast ever wont, and Douglas will follow thee or die."

To this day, the plaque at Teba honors James Douglas's bravery and service.

Onward is the language of true disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. They desire action that will make a difference and have a significant impact on the lives of others. Faithful Holy Ghost-filled Jesus name baptized believers are always looking forward to a greater future and are fueled by the idea that what they do matters.

To make an impact, we must understand how to live with purpose and a mission in all we do. Here's how:

1. Start With Why

When you know your “why'' you can find the way. But you'll begin to lose your way when you lose your why.

We must never forget what this life is all about…loving the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and loving our neighbors as ourselves.

The “why” births in your heart, therefore make sure it's filled with gratefulness and genuine worship.

2. Be Intentional

Life can only be fulfilled when we live with intention. You can't be your best without effort. Apostolic believers have to live with discipline. Spirituality requires intentionality.

There are two ways to live: reactively or proactively. You can take life as it comes or make it as you go.

Unfortunately, most Christians accept their lives "as is" instead of intentionally charting their course. They hope things will turn out better, but they don't put in the effort to actually make them better.

3. Be Bold

Playing it safe is one of the riskiest places to be. Moving forward requires bold moves at times. Believe big and push further.

Never allow discouragement or fear to keep you from reaching your God-given potential.

Don't retreat because it is a safe thing to do. Make bold moves that are strategic and purposeful. We have nothing to fear as disciples of Jesus Christ. When we trust God controls everything, we can walk confidently in His sovereignty. The goal of life should be to die with many memories, not unfilled dreams.

Have a Blessed Week
